“Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.” — Brené Brown
Hey there Reader,
I’ve been thinking about connection. Real connection.
Not likes. Not quick comments. Not the kind of surface-level interaction that lets us technically stay in touch while still feeling alone.
I mean the kind of connection where we feel known. The kind where we can tell the truth. The kind where someone’s presence makes life feel a little less complicated.
I think one of the reasons people long for simpler times is because connection used to feel less manufactured.
People dropped by. Neighbors talked. Families gathered. Friends called just because. We had more unscheduled moments where life happened in real time.
Now, we are more connected than ever and somehow lonelier than we want to admit.
But connection can be rebuilt. It starts with small, intentional choices.
Reaching out. Checking in. Making the call. Asking the better question. Listening without rushing to fix. Letting people know they matter.
We do not need a perfect life to feel connected. We need presence.
And in a world that keeps pulling us in a hundred directions, presence may be one of the most powerful gifts we can offer.
Something to think about: Who in your life makes you feel more like yourself, and have you made time for them lately?
Take action: This week, reach out to one person without needing a reason. Send the text. Make the call. Invite them for coffee. Tell them you were thinking about them.
I'm curious what came up for you...hit reply and tell me - Who is someone you are grateful to be connected to right now?
The last word in my series comes next...PRESENCE.
All the love, Maria
